Frequently Asked Questions about the Party Alcohol Calculator
How does the party alcohol calculator work?
It estimates a purchase quantity from guest count, the share expected to drink, event length, and the selected planning rate. It then splits that quantity across beer, wine, and liquor. The result is an inventory estimate, not a recommended consumption amount. Provide water, nonalcoholic options, food, and safe transportation.
How many drinks should I plan per guest?
The calculator offers 0.5, 1, and 1.5 drinks per drinking guest per hour as inventory scenarios. They are not health limits or targets, and actual consumption varies. Avoid adding extra solely to encourage heavier drinking; unopened-product return policies and smaller staged quantities can reduce waste.
How many servings are in a bottle?
Using US standard drink sizes, a 750 mL wine bottle contains about five 5 oz servings and a 750 mL spirits bottle about sixteen 1.5 oz servings. The calculator rounds to whole containers, which can leave unused alcohol. These serving counts describe container math, not a consumption recommendation.
How much mixer do I need for cocktails?
The calculator defaults to 1 liter of mixer per 750 mL spirits bottle as an inventory assumption. Set the rate from the actual drink recipes and include nonalcoholic mixer separately where needed.
What beverage mix should I pick?
The 50% beer, 25% wine, and 25% liquor split is only a default inventory mix. There is no universal mix for an event. Adjust it to the planned menu and guests; the three shares must total 100% for the calculation.
Will I have leftovers, and can I return them?
Container counts are rounded up, so leftovers are possible. Return policies and alcohol rules vary by retailer and jurisdiction, so confirm before buying. Store unopened products according to their labels and local rules.
